About Our Practice
Dr. Dawood qualified at the University of Stellenbosch in 2008. She subsequently completed her two year internship at the reputable Groote Schuur Hospital. Her community service was completed at Hanover Park Community Health Centre and Mowbray Maternity Hospital where she worked in Neonatology.
She thereafter worked for a family physician in private practice as a permanent locum. This is where her love for GP practice bloomed. After two years as a permanent locum, she worked in a very busy community day centre in Mitchells Plain for 5 years. She became experienced in Emergency Medicine and is trained in Acute Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support, TB and HIV and chronic disease management. She had many administrative responsibilities , including quality assurance and chairing of forums. She mentored and guided many professional nurses, clinical nurse practitioners and junior doctors. Her facility won best Facility in the subdistrict for 2018. She was part of the community network that included Social Services, Medical services and Geriatric services. She was involved in outreach at the community library to do blood pressure, blood sugar and HIV testing as well as a guest speaker to encourage males in the community to have their regular medical checks. She continued to locum on weekends at another GP practice, as this is where her true passion lied.
She attends Annual General Practitioner conferences annually to keep up to date with the latest advances in General Medicine. Her passions are paediatric and adolescent health, Womans Health and Chronic diseases of Lifestyle like Diabetes and Hypertension. She enjoys educating and counselling patients and believes in holistic management of patients according to the bio-psycho-social model. She is driven to ensure the best quality of care for patients. She accepts most medical aids as well as private patients (cash).
